The Power of Perspective: A 15-Minute Reality Check
Take a look at this photo. Really look at it. What do you see?

Maybe you notice the bare trees reaching toward the sky. The soft light of nature waking up. A quiet, peaceful moment—simple, still, nothing dramatic.
Now, look at this photo.

The sky is on fire. Vibrant reds and deep oranges stretch across the horizon, the kind of sunrise that makes you stop mid-step, shove your drink at someone, and fumble for your phone like, MUST. CAPTURE. THIS.
Believe it or not, I was standing in the exact same spot for each of these photos. Even more unbelievable, the two photos were taken just 15 minutes apart. Same sky, same horizon, same everything.
But when you compare the two photos, you'd think they were taken in completely different worlds.
The scene itself never changed. Only the light did. And that one difference shifted everything about how we perceived the moment.
The Comparison Trap (a.k.a. How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Moment)
We do this to ourselves all the time.
We compare today's progress to our best day ever.
We judge our current reality against someone else's highlight reel.
We look at where we are now and measure it against a time when everything was on fire (in the good way).
And suddenly, the perfectly fine thing in front of us—the soft pastels, the quiet beauty—feels... underwhelming.
But it's not underwhelming. It's just not competing with a neon sign screaming, LOOK AT ME.
I don't know about you, but I've fallen into this trap so many times.
Looked at my career and thought, Why am I not as fired up as I was when I first started?
Hit a noteworthy goal, only to feel meh about it because last week's version of me did it faster, bigger, or better.
Had a really good day, then scrolled social media and suddenly felt like I should be doing more.
What If We Just Let This Be Enough?
The sky didn't stop being beautiful just because it wasn't a fiery spectacle anymore. It just was. And it was enough.
So today, take a second. Step outside, take a deep breath, and look at where you are—without comparing it to where you've been or where you think you should be.
Because this moment, in its own quiet way, is already something worth seeing.
